Kinaxis and ExxonMobil partner to transform energy supply chains
Kinaxis and ExxonMobil have joined forces to develop cutting-edge supply chain technology solutions aimed at transforming the energy sector. The deal seeks to address the unique supply chain challenges faced by the energy industry and create more efficient processes.
ExxonMobil, one of the world’s largest energy companies, and Kinaxis, a leader in supply chain orchestration, are working on solutions to optimise supply and demand planning. The collaboration aims to automate data visibility, improve inventory management, and reduce supply costs across complex fuel, chemical, and lubricant markets.
The companies will focus on improving planning in fuel commodities, which currently lack a standardised approach and rely heavily on manual methods like spreadsheets. By integrating refinery-to-customer planning with real-time data, the solution promises more accurate balancing of supply and demand.
“Last year, we brought together all ExxonMobil supply chain activities and expertise into one centralised organisation, creating one of the largest supply chain operations in the world, and through this identified critical solution gaps to enable our businesses to capture additional value,” said Staale Gjervik, supply chain president, ExxonMobil Global Services Company. “Collaborating with Kinaxis, a leading supply chain technology provider, is instrumental in providing solutions for a large and complex business like ours.”
The deal also includes the development of advanced planning tools for ExxonMobil’s chemicals and lubricants divisions. These tools will handle manufacturing and logistics constraints, as well as scenario modelling, which could lower supply chain costs and improve efficiency.
John Sicard, CEO of Kinaxis, noted the importance of agility and efficiency in today’s energy supply chains, stating: “There is an urgent need to increase efficiency in every step, from extraction to end-user consumption, and we’re looking forward to making a big impact across the sector.”
This partnership brings together ExxonMobil’s vast industry expertise and Kinaxis’ supply chain innovation, offering the energy sector much-needed modernisation in its operations.
